The natural flow of the music in this album and the standout performance of Lyn Stanley make this an album that will become a favorite in your collection. And, in the Lyn Stanley tradition, the sound has been carefully coddled to ensure what you hear in this recording is like being at the actual June 1, 2019 evening performance.
"As an audio-oriented recording artist, I have been dedicated to stellar analog productions because I believe the best sound is through the analog channel. When I proposed to my mastering engineer, Bernie Grundman, that we create a 45rpm LP it was an effort to get you, the listener, closer to being at our performance the night of June 1, 2019. It was a very special evening where my Jazz Maverick band members, John Chiodini, Chuck Berghofer, Mike Lang, Luis Conte, Aaron Serfaty and I had one of those coveted memorable performances - totally in sync and having the time of our lives. I hope you enjoy it." - Lyn Stanley
Known as the "sultry jazz singer of the decade", International Recording Artist Lyn Stanley has a worldwide fan base and she is releasing her tenth album in 2021 (a holiday big band project) and also working on her 11th album, a tribute to 1924 music. Her debut album was released in 2013. Los Angeles KKjz-88.1 Jazz radio has named Lyn Female Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2018. Lyn is known for her velvety sound favoring the style of the beautiful voice and music from the 1950s and 1960s. She was discovered by jazz legend, Paul Smith, Ella Fitzgerald's musical director, conductor and pianist for 25 years.
All of Lyn Stanley's award-winning albums have achieved notable status. Her album titles are Lost In Romance; Potions [from the 50s']; Interludes; and The Moonlight Sessions Volumes One and Two; plus two tributes to Julie London - London Calling and London with a Twist including a live performance "Live At Studio A" as a Blu-ray video and CD/LP vinyl album. Her big band holiday album, Novel Noel - A Jingle Cool Jazz Celebration, is set for 2021 release. **It is standard practice in all recording studios to keep the tape "tail out". This reduces "pre-echo" and it means that the tape should be placed on the right hand side of the recorder, re-wound and then played.
It is so nice to hear an album recorded LIVE with the musicians and singer in the same room at the same time for a change. It is also a very brave recording to make as there is no room for error and all the players need to be on their 'A Game.' Here, they are and Lyn's warm voice sailing over the music brings to my mind similar sessions in the same studio with Nat 'King' Cole and Frank Sinatra. Lyn is really a treasure and this album is a must-have release, so grab it and play it...it is that good!
