Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 7/500!

A fine offering from one of England's oldest bands, this album mixes a generous blend of pop and rock that appeals to both sexes: Women like it because it is "listenable", men like it because most of the songs are borderline romantic without being mushy.

With Rumours, Fleetwood Mac produced one of the most celebrated albums (and one of the best-selling albums) of all time. While Fleetwood Mac had finally attained their long-desired commercial success, the band was fraying apart behind the scenes. The McVies divorced in 1976, and the Buckingham and Nicks' romance ended shortly afterward. The internal tensions formed the basis for the songs on their best album, Rumours. Released in the spring of 1977, Rumours became a blockbuster success, topping the American and British charts and generating the Top Ten singles "Go Your Own Way," "Dreams," "Don't Stop," and "You Make Loving Fun." It would eventually sell over 17 million copies in the U.S. alone, making it the second biggest-selling album of all time. Rumours reads like a greatest hits package rather than an incredible record. This album is a “must have” release in every sense of the word.

"The band's two romantic couples — bassist John and singer-keyboard player Christine McVie, who were married; guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and vocalist Stevie Nicks, who were not — broke up during the protracted sessions for Rumours. This lent a highly charged, confessional aura to such songs as Buckingham's "Go Your Own Way," Nicks' "Dreams," Christine's "Don't Stop" and the group-composed anthem to betrayal, "The Chain." The Mac's catchy exposes, produced with California-sunshine polish, touched a nerve; Rumours, a landmark Seventies pop album, ruled Billboard's album chart for thirty-one weeks." - www.rollingstone.com

Promising sound - blemished record

While parts of this album sounded quite good with prodigious bass, the disc 1 arrived severely beat up with a couple of big divots on one side and a giant smudge/abrasion on the opposite. I've listened to the album for almost 50 years so I feel I know the music pretty well. Overall, I prefer the sound of the SACD version. The output is considerably higher, the mids and highs are much more balanced with the bass. The lower mids and bass of the LP are very fat, the most I've heard in an album. Will have to send this album back for an exchange or refund.

Super fast delivery to Ireland

The first copy of the Rumours I purchased on Vinyl in a local store had terrible sound quality. This 2 LP version from Elusive Disk was music to me ears and the delivery to Ireland took 10 days.

Worth it.

Any one buying this album has no doubt purchased other versions of this recording. There is no need to discuss the stellar material. What everyone wants to know is whether the sound quality is worth the investment. Plain and simple it is. This is especially true if you have a fine sound system that lets you experience all of the nuances of this special album.

Excellent

This one is a loud record. You can hear every detail and the pressing is absolutely perfect. This is one of those records that people compare other great sounding records to. The soundstage is deep, wide and tall. This is the best way to hear this album, bar none. Note: On the pictures for this release, it shows Made in U.S.A under the back barcode. That is false. When you purchase, you will receive the one which says Manufactured in the E.U. The differences between the two versions is very small, and almost impossible to quantify, but they do seem different. The USA version is about 1 db higher in volume, but both versions are utterly stunning.
