This third solo studio album from guitarist Doyle Bramhall II was released in 2001 and was his first album to feature the band Smokestack.

The Welcome album was recorded during a highly inspired time in Bramhall II's life. For seven weeks, Doyle wrote about 25 songs, only 12 of which would make it to the Welcome album.

Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers) not only played the organ and piano for the music, but he also co-produced the album.
