High Quality 24/96 Digital Audio Disc (DAD) - Audio-ONLY DVD!
Pure 24/96 gris-gris from the night tripper. In the 1980's, Mac Rabbenack (aka Dr. John) tracked two full albums for the Clean Cuts label. Brightest Smile was recorded in New York City in the the fall of 1983. A New Orleans native, Rebbenack's gumbo drenched, voodoo-hoodoo from the swamp is strictly "all heart and no gimmicks" as the liner notes state.
What is a 24/96 DVD? It is a High Quality 24/96 Digital Audio Disc (DAD) (Audio-ONLY DVD!). This disc will play on DVD capable players or DAC's that will output at 24/96. The original analog master tapes are converted to 24-bit/96kHz digital data through a Muse Model Seven A/D converter and a proprietary hard-disk recording system developed by Muse's Kevin Halverson. After the analog signal is encoded and the data stored on the hard drive, post-production "authoring" creates a digital tape called a "DLT," which is then used to produce a glass master, which in turn produces stampers that mold the DADs.
