Vinyl Grade: VG+
Side A noisy scratch across middle to the end. Causes crackles, and about 6 pops
Jacket Grade: VG
Is this the definitive version of the piece? Well, considering that RCA's roster of classical musicians was legendary in the Golden Era of recording in which this performance was recorded, we can say it is at least, in the handful of the best. Add to that, being a good friend and collaborator of Heifetz, Piatigorsky always felt a personal if somewhat romantic attachment to Dvorak's famed Cello concerto. Recorded in 1959 directly to three track with Munch conducting the BSO, the sound is as stellar as the performance. Cut from the original 3-track master by Bernie Grundman, this title was originally issued on the conventional 180g profile. Back again on Classic's 200g Super Vinyl Profile which is now acclaimed as better sounding (read no groove distortion ala conventional profiles) is this a must have? - yes unless you only listen to original 1S compressed versions of RCA Living Stereo's - you know who you are....
Musicians:
Gregor Piatigorsky

Antonín Dvorák (1841-1904)
