This recording of 20 of the 66 lyrical pieces by Edvard Grieg, which the Russian keyboard grandmaster Emil Gilels recorded in 1972, can undoubtedly be regarded as a milestone in piano history. Although Grieg's lyrical pieces have a reputation for being manageable even for amateurs, the dynamic and colorful richness of nuance that Gilels brings to the compositions is certainly in a league of its own.

The Original Source Series from Deutsche Grammophon features celebrated 4-track recordings from the 1970s reissued on vinyl. Remastered by the renowned Berlin-based Emil Berliner Studios using 100% pure analogue techniques to create versions of the highest possible audio quality. Produced on 180g virgin vinyl by Optimal and housed in deluxe gatefold editions, featuring additional photos and/or recording documentation.
