"A soundtrack to my life" – this is how Eunike Tanzil sums up The First of Everything, her much-anticipated debut album. Released as an LP on crystal clear vinyl, complete with four-page booklet, the recording reflects the versatility, sense of freedom and spirit of adventure that define this exciting young composer-pianist-producer's modern take on orchestral music. Its 12 tracks trace a journey of significant personal firsts and reveal Eunike's gift for storytelling in music that ranges from minimalistic writing to sweeping cinematic statements.
Recorded with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, the album is conducted by Anna Handler and features both Eunike Tanzil (piano) and Sophie Kauer (cello) as soloists. "It was my childhood dream to have my debut album recorded by a large orchestra," says Eunike. "I feel very grateful and honoured that I'm part of this incredible project with so many great musicians."
One wants to hear more from Tanzil, and if a major film score from her is in the offing, listeners are advised to check it out, along with this promising beginning.
