Pure Analogue Recording on Audiophile 140g Vinyl LP!
Mastered at AIR Studios & Pressed at Optimal!

At the beginning of April 2023, British singer Fink and LowSwing Records' producer Guy Sternberg met to record a very special session. Over the span of two days together with a dream band of musicians — including bass hero Tim Lefebvre (most known from David Bowie's Black Star album) and drummer Earl Harvin (Tindersticks, Seal, Jeff Beck) — they recorded some of Fink's favorite tracks from Bowie and The Smiths, some classic choices by producer Guy Sternberg from Soundgarden and Little Feat, and a couple of Fink's own classic cuts.

As Fink later wrote: "The Session was the catalyst of musical desire...a few days in a real recording studio with some friends, stellar sessionistas, and nothing to think about apart from singing and playing."

The album was recorded and mixed at one of Berlin's oldest studios, Tritonus, where Nick Cave, Erasure, Element of Crime and many others made their records. The recording was done on 2-inch 24-track Studer A827 and was mixed down to a Studer A80 ½-inch machine at 30ips.

Later the record was mastered and cut to lacquer at George Martin's legendary AIR Studios in London.

Fink's The LowSwing Sessions is available exclusively on vinyl. Two editions will be released: a standard, single 33-RPM 140g disc and a "Deluxe" limited edition packaged in a luxurious gatefold cover and pressed on two 45-RPM discs. Both versions are pressed at Optimal Media GmbH.

This album is produced in co-operation with Brinkmann Audio, high-end manufacturer of the world's finest turntables and audio components.

LowSwing Recordings are recorded and mixed to analogue tape and then cut directly to vinyl. No computers, digital mixing or AD/DA conversion are used in the mastering process. The album utilizes LowSwing's unique collection of vintage equipment and instruments from the 1960's and '70's, much of which has been modified to the studio's exacting requirements.

LowSwing Records is a record label dedicated to the love of music on the analogue format. LowSwing recordings are recorded and mixed to analogue tape, and then cut directly to vinyl. The heart of the label is LowSwing Recording Studio in Berlin, where owner Guy Sternberg records, mixes, and produces exciting new artists with the production values of yesteryear.

'Fink: The LowSwing Sessions' a Wondrous Hit on My Turntable

"I’m listening to a vinyl album that arrived earlier today on headphones that I just finished reviewing, the Dan Clark Audio Stealth, their statement closed back headphones that sell for $3,999. It’s called Fink – The LowSwing Sessions," I noted in my blog. "The album’s by Fin Greenall, also known as Fink, an international DJ of some renown who became a popular Indie folk singer some years back." Song number one was a downtempo version of David Bowie’s “Modern Love” – the first of five covers that precede two collaborations of his. Apparently, it was recorded straight to tape, and according to the liner notes, everything was recorded in one take. It’s a high quality analog recording. Fink’s sonorous, close-miked baritone vocals and guitar are soothing and highly listenable, and the drum kit, bass, and keys come across intimate and lifelike. Some frenetic violin with some psychedelic reverb kicks in one song. It has an earthy quality with some effects thrown in now and again." Bottom line, I was impressed with the sound quality of the entire album. In fact, I have shared it on several occasions with vinyl and audio enthusiasts during get-togethers. Moreover, my experience with Elusive Disc was excellent, and I will consider them for future vinyl purchases. They've earned a hearty "Two thumbs up!"
