Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen", the 2013 computer animated film by Walt Disney Animation Studios introduced the world to some unforgettable songs such as "Let It Go" and "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?". Christophe Beck composed the film's orchestral score while the husband-and-wife team of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez penned the songs. The song "Let It Go" earned an Academy Award and Critics' Choice Award for "Best Original Song."
The soundtrack received widespread critical acclaim from music critics and debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 chart. The soundtrack has topped the Billboard album chart for thirteen non-consecutive weeks, and as of July 2014, it has sold over 3 million copies in the U.S. The album has been certified triple-Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and peaked at No. 1 on the aforementioned chart, becoming the fourth soundtrack album from an animated film to reach that milestone.
