The Louisiana native, Harry Connick, Jr., releases "Your Songs" which contains 14 of the most romantic songs in the history of music including "The Way You Look Tonight" and "Besame Mucho".
Harry has been crooning and tickling the ivories since a very early age, having learning to play keyboards at the age of three and playing publicly at the age of six! His musical talents were developed at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and under the tutelage of Ellis Marsalis and James Booker. This album marks the 26th musical recording to feature the talents of Connick, Jr. since 1977 at the young age of 10.
Harry Connick, Jr's career has been studded with awards and recognition, including several multi-platinum and gold albums, 25 million albums sold around the world, Grammy, Tony and Emmy Awards; Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, and so much more.
On 'Your Songs', for the first time in his career, Harry Connick, Jr. teamed up with a record company producer and that producer is none other than the legendary Clive Davis. Davis is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has won multiple Grammy Awards, and he plays a key part in the careers of Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis. Clive Davis also collaborated with Rod Stewart on the wildly successful series "The Great American Songbook" and the incredibly successful Barry Manilow series "Greatest Songs of the '50s, '60s and '70s..."
Harry says "Clive expressed an interest in working with me but I didn't know what that meant because I had never done a collaboration before." Davis' concept was to put together a program of classic songs that were both as familiar and as contemporary as possible. Both by accident and design, the selections are skewed toward signature songs from iconic performers such as:
Elvis Presley - I Can't Help Falling In Love With You
The Beatles - And I Love Her
Nat King Cole - Mona Lisa
Tony Bennett - Who Can I Turn To?
Frank Sinatra - All the Way
Billy Joel - Just the Way You Are
The Carpenters - (They Long To Be) Close To You
Elton John - Your Song
Don McLean - And I Love You So
