French Favorites From Satie, Debussy, Chopin & Silvestrov On 180g Vinyl LP!

Hélène Grimaud's album, Memory, is an exploration of mindfulness, not in an autobiographical or programmatic sense, but as the state of consciousness common to us all, through music. Grimaud brings together French piano favorites from Satie and Debussy with Chopin, and Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov, as well as a brand-new piano version of "Breathing Light," one of Grimaud's favorite pieces by frequent collaborator and fellow artist, Nitin Sawhney. Now available on LP.

A Gorgeous Album

The works are simple and short, but neither description is a complaint, for the works are also beautifully written small jewels. The quality of playing is stunning: the sensitivity to each work and its nuances is evident. Ms. Grimaud is an intelligent well-trained musician and superb pianist. The quality of the recording is superb. The natural reverb in the church, the innate quietness of the recording environment, the exquisite placement of the microphone(s), the ears of a very fine recording engineer. . . all are on display. I purchased the LP but also listen to the album over Tidal. Highly recommended. T.W. Davidson
