Hybrid Stereo SACD!Remastered By Ryan Smith At Sterling Sound From Original Analog Tapes!
Marking the 50th anniversary of the score to the classic film, Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings have created a truly remarkable pressing for an audiophile classic. The soundtrack to the film "The Pink Panther."
"Moon River" might be Henry Mancini's biggest hit, but it was Mancini's score for Blake Edwards's 1964 farce "The Pink Panther" that introduced his music to generations of children; the sauntering, jazzy main theme was used in dozens of cartoon shorts that were broadcast on television for years. The Pink Panther Soundtrack features 12 songs.
The Pink Panther was nominated for the 1964 Academy Award for Best Original Score. The tenor saxophone solo for the Pink Panther Theme was played by Plas Johnson. Issued as a single in 1964, the theme song reached the Top 10 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart and won three Grammy Awards.
"Justly famous for the unforgettable breathy texture of the tenor sax in the ultra popular main theme... There is no denying the electrifying you-are-there realism as the sax explodes from the soundstage... [T]hese SACDS are sonic classics that probably come as close as possible to the sound of the original LPs." - Arthur Lintgen, The Absolute Sound, April 2017
