Follow-Up to Headhunters on 180g Vinyl!
The follow-up to Hancock's breakthrough album Headhunters, 1974's Thrust was also a commercial success, peaking at #13 on the Billboard Hot 200 LP chart. An earthy, funky, yet often harmonically and rhythmically sophisticated tour de force, Thrust is a continuation of Hancock's progression into the rapidly changing high-tech world for new sounds and instrumentation. Thrust showcases Hancock's concentration on the funk, with plenty of wah-wah clavinet, synthesizer textures and effects, and electric piano ruminations that still venture beyond the outer limits of post-bop. Features the track "Butterfly" which Hancock would re-record 20 years later on Dis Is Da Drum.
