Iris is a 2001 biographical drama film about novelist Iris Murdoch and her relationship with her husband John Bayley. The film is based on Bayley's 1999 memoir Elegy for Iris. Judi Dench and Jim Broadbent portray Murdoch and Bayley during the later stages of their marriage, while Kate Winslet and Hugh Bonneville appear as the couple in their younger years. Iris won several awards, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe Award.
The score is composed by two-time Academy Award-winner James Horner, who is best known for his work for Titanic, Avatar and The Mask of Zorro. Horner is accompanied by Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell. The quiet drama Iris allowed Horner to indulge his predilection for the uplifting and optimistic while scaling back on bombast.
Iris is available on vinyl for the first time as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on crystal clear vinyl and contains an insert.
