The Only Live Performance of Trane's Masterpiece on Double LP!
Restored & Remastered on Vinyl for the First Time!
Celebrating SIXTY YEARS since the original recording of the acclaimed masterpiece A Love Supreme.
A Love Supreme was originally recorded in one take in December 1964 and was released the following year by Impulse Records. The critically acclaimed album, a suite comprising four parts, is universally recognized as Coltrane's masterpiece and has been certified Gold in the U.K. and Platinum in the U.S.A.
In July 1965 the John Coltrane Quartet were booked to appear at the 6th International Jazz Festival, Juan- Les-Pins, Antibes, France. It was to be their final visit to Europe. On their first night, Monday 26th July, they performed the complete A Love Supreme suite with the original lineup: John Coltrane (tenor sax), McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums). The performance was recorded by French TV but sadly only 12-minutes has survived. Fortunately, the Charly archivists have retrieved and restored the entire live concert, the ONLY performance by the original musicians.
Available for the first time on double vinyl and presented in a 5mm spine sleeve with a replica concert poster, this really is a "supreme" special edition.
