180 Gram Pressing! Mastered by Bernie Grundman!
Berlin based singer Lisa Bassenge is one of the best German female jazz vocalists. Apart from her recordings with her 'Lisa Bassenge Trio' she has worked with musicians like Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, Nicola Conte, Demba Nabe, Stuart Staples (Tindersticks) and the WDR Big Band.
Now Lisa has teamed up with one of the most successful producers, Grammy Award-winning Larry Klein. Larry has produced albums like Melody Gardot's "My One and Only Thrill", Herbie Hancock's "The Joni Letters", Till Bronner's "Oceana", Madeleine Peyroux's "Careless Love" among many other international gold and platinum albums.
The theme of the album is Los Angeles. Lisa and Larry chose some classic and hidden hits from the golden era of LA-songwriting: "Riders On the Storm" (The Doors), "For What It's Worth" (Buffalo Springfield) and songs written and performed by James Taylor, Tom Waits, The Beach Boys, Rickie Lee Jones, and more. The result is "Canyon Songs" - a sensitive jazzy melancholic and also trendy and cool production.
