1974 Southern Rock Classic Reissued on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl!
Little Feat have indeed led a storied life ever since they formed in 1969. From then on, their unconventional signature of earthy, organic appeal and polished, first-rate musicianship wrapped around eclectic and memorable songs - clearly delivered as an authentic labor of love - has been a lasting fixture on the musical landscape. As American as apple pie - and rock n roll itself - Feat's music transcends boundaries, a freewheeling fusion of California rock and Dixie-inflected funk-boogie. In the mix as well are strains of folk, blues, rockabilly, country and jazz, inventing a hybrid sound that is truly Little Feat's own.
The sequel to the previous year's Dixie Chicken, 1974s Feats Dont Fail Me Now showcases each member of Little Feat at their finest. This album was the beginning of Lowell Geroges fade from the spotlight. Highlights include "Rock & Roll Doctor," "Oh, Atlanta," "Spanish Moon" and "Feats Dont Fail Me Now."
"...if Feats Don't Fail Me Now is just taken as a record, it's nothing more than a damn good rock & roll record. ...one of the best albums Little Feat ever cut. It's so good, the group used it as the template for the rest of their career." - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, www.allmusic.com
Feats Don't Fail Me Now features Lowell George singing the lead on all but two of the songs. Paul Barrere sings lead on "Skin It Back," while Bill Payne takes the lead on "Oh Atlanta."
The album also finds such superstars (today) as Bonnie Raitt and Emmylou Harris performing backing vocals in the early stages of their music carreers.
