"By The Time It Gets Dark" (1987) as an album has lots to commend it. Firstly, Mary has a beautiful voice, her song selection is always interesting and the arrangements are finely done. In short this album is a marvel of understated musicianship. Songs include "Once In A Very Blue Moon", "School Days Over", a lovely version of "Moon River" and the wonderful Richard Thompson song, "Farewell, Farewell". Pressed at Pallas in Germany, this album's sound is of top quality. Comes with lyric sheet.
