Platter mats are important!
Turntables are a swamp of cumulative low-level noise. Motor bearing chatter, motor rotation noise, motor mount vibration, rotational platter noise, spindle bearing noise, and platter ringing - it's all there. If it's not eliminated, your system will be noisier than necessary. Cartridges, tonearms, tonearm wiring, and mounting points are subjected to most of those problems in varying amounts depending on the turntable and tonearm and the way they have been engineered. A great platter mat is more than just a simple accessory - it's fundamentally important when it comes to reducing the effects of all such low-level noise and resonance.
The MITMAT platter mat uses the latest microcell, resonance absorption technology to tame the toughest turntable problems!
Features
- Microcell rigidized foam damps low-frequency resonance, reducing it by 3-10 dB
- Micrometer-flat sandwich layers top and bottom constrain resonance and damp mid-to-high frequency platter ringing by up to 20 dB
- The 300 mm MITMAT diameter carries LPs around their outer lip and around the label ridge, providing superb support and protection during play – no spindle/center weight or clamp is needed or recommended. Your turntable motor will thank you!
- MITMAT's reduction of low-level noise and ringing help you hear only what's in the groove
- MITMAT's 3mm thickness is ideal for most tonearm setups when replacing any stock platter mat between 2-5 mm
- No label recess means the MITMAT is consistent in thickness through the crucial label/spindle area, providing equally consistent resonance damping across its entire surface
- MITMAT is also available in 295 mm diameter for lipped platters (Linn, etc.)
