180g Double LP Reissue! Remastered at Abbey Road Studios Supervised by Paul McCartney!
Venus and Mars is the fourth album by Wings. Released as the follow-up to the enormously successful Band on the Run, Venus and Mars continued Wings' string of success and would prove a springboard for a year-long worldwide tour. It was Paul McCartney's first post-Beatles release on the Capitol Records label.
The 1973 album Band On the Run featured a trio of Paul McCartney and wife Linda along with guitarist Denny Laine. In 1974, McCartney added guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton to the line-up. However, due to a personality conflict between McCulloch and Britton, Joe English was hired to replace Britton to finish the album. The album was preceded by the single "Listen To What the Man Said," which helped to boost anticipation and sales of the album.
This special vinyl edition contains previously unreleased tracks and other special bonus content. A 'must have' for vinyl collections.
"...rocking pop tunes, paced with a couple of ballads and a little whimsy, all graced with a little of the production flair that distinguished Band on the Run." -Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic.com
