This album marked Peggy Lees return to Latin themes eleven years after her No. 1 single Manana. A hit in its initial release, Latin Ala Lee! earned Peggy two Grammy nominations in 1960: Best Vocal Performance, Album - Female, and Best Performance by a Pop Single Artist (for the single "Heart" from this album).
Recorded in Capitol's state-of-the-art studios when stereo was only one year old, the spirited arrangements, crystal-clear sound, and Peggy's impeccable phrasing brought a new day to twelve Broadway standards. This S&P Records' reissue of Peggy Lee's 1960 album Latin Ala Lee! which contains 12 standard Broadway songs with an Afro-Cuban Beat including; "Heart", "On The Street Where You Live", "Hey There", "The Party's Over", "I Could Of Danced All Night" and many more.
Along with the 12 songs contained on the original 1960 release from Capitol Records, this new reissue contains 3 Bonus Tracks making this specially priced fan favorite title even more special! Bonus tracks include: "Ole" written by Peggy and "From Now On" both from the out-of-print sequel album, Ole Ala Lee! and "Sweet Happy Life" from the out-of-print album Guitars Ala Lee.
