Great Article from Classic Records about the Procol Harem Pressing! click

Appearing six months after "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Homburg" the UK version of the self titled Procol Harum LP had neither of the hit songs on it. But the album itself included music that is an engaging meld of psychedelic rock, blues, and classical influences, filled with phantasmagoric lyrics, bold (but not flashy) organ contributions by Matthew Fisher, and Robin Trower's most tasteful and restrained guitar.
"Conquistador," "Kaleidoscope," "A Christmas Camel," and the Bach-influenced "Repent Walpurgis" are superb tracks, and "Good Captain Clack" is great, almost Kinks-like fun. The Classic LP reissue features the original Regal/Zonophone Mono UK tracks and artwork in a gatefold cover that allows for the addition of a 12" Mono single of the hit "A Whiter Shade of Pale" cut at 33 rpm on one side and 45 rpm on the other. The LP and single were cut from the original Mono master tapes at The Exchange in London by Tim de Paravicini.
The first 1000 copies will also include a 7" white vinyl single of an alternate version of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Lime Street Blues" mixed to Stereo from the original 4 track masters at David Gilmour's Astoria Studios on the River Thames outside London by John Lechie. This is where psychedelic rock began and its a Classic!
With the exception of Repent Walpurgis for which Matthew Fisher may be held responsible all the music was written by Gary Brooker and the words by Keith Reid. The album was produced by Denny Cordell.
