The first solo piano score by legendary composer Randy Newman - The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected). Newman has been nominated for 20 Academy awards.

The album features original music by multiple Grammy®, Emmy®, and Academy Award® winner Randy Newman (THE NATURAL, TOY STORY). The all-piano score is also performed by Newman.

The veteran film composer did something completely different for THE MEYEROWITZ STORIES (NEW AND SELECTED) Newman crafted a score utilizing only the piano. "After I saw the movie I wrote and recorded a little piece so that Noah [Baumbach, writer/director] could hear something that I thought might work for the picture," Newman described. "He liked it and he decided that solo piano would be an effective way to score his picture."

From writer/director Noah Baumbach, THE MEYEROWITZ STORIES (NEW AND SELECTED) is the emotional, and comic, intergenerational tale of adult siblings (Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, and Elizabeth Marvel) contending with the long shadow their strong-willed father (Dustin Hoffman) has cast over their lives. With an original screenplay by Baumbach, the film also stars Emma Thompson, Grace Van Patten, Adam Driver, Candice Bergen, Judd Hirsch, and Rebecca Miller. The film was produced by Scott Rudin, Baumbach, Lila Yacoub, and Eli Bush.

The film's writer and director, Noah Baumbach "explained 'that Newman composed a piano-centric score because Sandler's musician character plays that instrument. The songwriter began sending major themes to Baumbach the day after their initial meeting, and also contributed the music to a sweet tune sung by Sandler and Van Patten (and written with Sandler and Baumbach). Throughout the press conference, Baumbach also noted that he cried during the first take of Bergen's monologue, and lauded Hoffman's ability to make his unlikeable character 'attractive and understandable'..." - hollywoodreporter.com
