Grammy Award-Winning Album On 180g Audiophile Vinyl!
Five-time Grammy Award-winning blues singer Robert Cray recorded his fifth studio album, Strong Persuader, together with Grammy Award-winning producer Bruce Bromberg. After its release in 1986, the album became his big breakthrough and made Cray a pop star, despite making a classic blues album. The 10-track album included three singles: "Right Next Door (Because Of Me)," "I Guess I Showed Her" and "Smoking Gun," the latter reaching #2 on the US Rock chart and #22 on the Billboard Hot 100. Strong Persuader sold over two million copies by 1995 and earned him a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Recording.
The set that made Cray a pop star, despite its enduring blues base. Cray's smoldering stance on 'Smoking Gun' and 'Right Next Door' rendered him the first sex symbol to emerge from the blues field in decades, but it was his innovative expansion of the genre itself that makes this album a genuine 1980s classic.
