Vinyl LP Contains Hit Single "Apollo"!
TAS Rated 4/5 Music, 4/5 Sonics in the December 2018 Issue of The Absolute Sound!
The critically-acclaimed group release their highly-anticipated album Young Sick Camellia. The album contains songs infused with soul, rock, R&B and funk music that speak to lead vocalist Paul Janeway's personal family experiences. Producer Jack Splash is known for his work on albums by Solange, Kendrick Lamar, Diplo, Alicia Keys, Cee Lo Green, Mayer Hawthorne and more. The first single from the album is "Apollo", which NPR calls "a refreshing and surprising slice of sly summer funk."
"...Vocalist Paul Janeway can shake your speakers with the best of 'em, but on up-tempo burners like "Apollo" and slower jams like "Hurricanes", he dials it back just enough. Likewise the hot-shot horn sections: on past efforts, the mighty trumpet-trombone-sax combo was always jumpin' but sometimes nearly overshadowed the rest of the band. This time out, the whole engine is perfectly calibrated, and the result is decidedly sexy - witness "Bruised Fruit" and the scorching "GotItBad". Known for a 60s R&B ethos, St. Paul turns in an altogether more modern effort with Young Sick camellia, with shades of pop, soul, jazz, and a whole mess of dirty funk sliding through its nine tracks." - Karen Bells, The Absolute Sound, December 2018
