Sublime 2023 Jazz Album on Double LP!
Featuring John Scofield on the Track "Mushroom Gravy"!

Beyond his sheer virtuosity and versatility, drummer Adam Deitch has proven to be a musician of perpetual motion. In just over a year's time, he has been the driving force behind psychedelic funk veterans Lettuce's eighth studio album Unify, released a hip-hop beats album TAKE YOUR TIME, and now returns with the second LP release from his soul-jazz project The Adam Deitch Quartet.

Roll the Tape, available on Deitch's imprint Golden Wolf Records, exemplifies his unwavering commitment to producing authentic music from a broad spectrum of styles, all rooted in his tutelage of rhythmic studies and groove, and his upbringing as a drummer from a young age. The album features organist Wil Blades, Lettuce cohorts Eric "Benny" Bloom on trumpet and Ryan Zoidis on saxophone, and a feature from legendary guitarist John Scofield on the leading single "Mushroom Gravy."

This record is Jazz at its finest, through the Adam Deitch lens.

'Mushroom Gravy' which is the track featuring John Scofield is an absolute peach! Just the rhythms and groove that Deitch and his crew lay down combined with Scofield getting equally funk-i-fied and nitty-gritty is just awesome to listen to on a great system. Wil Blades on organ and clavinet definitely sets the foundation for all the music in place of a standard bass, and you can tell he is enjoying himself. This is music that is so good that it demands I stop whatever else I may be doing and focus my full attention on it! Sublime stuff.

It's a difficult thing to make the deep pocket grooves he plays sound as effortless as they do here. Deitch imbues them with little bits of flair and surprising fills that don't distract from the rest of the musicians. The album is an organ-led soul jazz joy in the vein of late '60s Grant Green and late '90s Medeski Martin & Wood, complete with a delightful guest appearance by guitarist John Scofield.
