There is no doubt about it; the Bee Gees were hot, hot, hot! At one point in the late '70s, they had five songs in the top ten. While the critics may have had a hard time warming up to their music, the public and radio stations loved them. The Brothers Gibb sang, performed, wrote hit songs for others, and single-handedly mainstreamed the disco movement of the '70s. Their popularity stemmed from catchy songs and the kind of lush harmonies most likely found within families (family vocal textures).
Trafalgar was the Bee Gees' eighth album. Produced by the Bee Gees and Robert Stigwood and released by Atco in 1971, Trafalgar contained the Bee Gees' first #1 single, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart. The Concept of Trafalgar as an album was influenced by Pocock's painting 'The Battle of Trafalgar', located in the National Maritime Museum in London.
