Limited Edition Box Set Featuring 19 x 7" Vinyl Discs!
2007 marks the 30th anniversary of the first release from one of the most critically lauded and influential bands in modern history, The Clash.
Signed to CBS records in 1976 in a blaze of publicity, they released their first single, "White Riot," in 1977 and from there launched a career that saw them pushing the boundaries of their genre, displaying a musical and political sophistication that distinguished them from most of their punk colleagues. Add to that their electrifying live performances, and it becomes apparent why they are cited as major influences to everybody from U2 to Green Day.
The Singles is an incredible box set collection which features all 19 UK Clash singles (including the NME give-away Capital Radio EP, which has never been commercially released) packaged in replica sleeves and with replica labels.
The 44-page color booklet features all the various single artwork, rare photos (many unseen), extensive memorabilia and reflections written by some of today's biggest artists who credit the Clash as major influences in their careers, including: Pete Townshend, The Edge (U2), Mike D (Beastie Boys), Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters), and many more! All artwork is by original Clash designer Jules Balme.
This limited edition box is being manufactured in one run only; when they are gone, they are gone!
"Growing up, The Clash were probably the first group that I lived and breathed for, and actually passed on eating so I could save money to buy their 7" singles. The first group that was mine, not my friend's, not my older brother's, just mine. I studied it all: the music, as I sang along and danced in the room, but also the sleeve artwork, and everything they wore." - Mike D (The Beastie Boys)
