As we have all experienced, 2020 wasnt exactly a great/normal year for anyone. VPI is excited to kick off 2021 on a more positive note! That is why VPI will celebrate 2021 by giving the award winning VPI Prime a facelift and rebranding to the Prime 21.
That Prime 21 is not a complete overhaul but more of a refinement based on feedback from customers, dealers, and editorials.
Features
- HW-40 feet for improved isolation and a lower table profile
- Machined metal top plate for improved chassis bracing
- 3D Printed Gimbal arm as the standard arm (unipivot can be requested at no price difference)
Why has VPI done this?
Fresh Look
To revisit the Prime and renew excitement in an already solid and renown deck
Improved Isolation
The HW-40 have proven to be VPI's best isolators without breaking the bank, the lower profile also makes the whole appearance of the table clean and easier to fit into shelf space.
Improved Resonance Cancelation, Grounding and Assembly
Moving the bottom plate to the top and adding more metal to wrap around the posts braces and makes the chasses more ridged a measure better for resonance cancelling (the chassis is quieter). Metal along the whole top, all assemblies mounted to the top plate makes a more efficient ground amongst the components. Also improves upon the build efficiency of the entire table.
Gimbal Arm Preference
Since VPI had their gimbal arm as a readily available option for their turntables roughly 3 years ago the numbers of requests have slowly outweighed standard mounting of the uni pivot. Both uni and gimbal have their own unique sound signatures but for the Prime gimbal has been turning into the king. Besides the requests, the gimbal is easier to mount cartridges on, easier for the customers to use, and has a nicer feel for customers who are new to turntable use.
