Hand-Numbered, Limited Edition 180g 4LP Box Set!
Mastered From The Original Mono Tapes At Emil Berliner Studios!
Schubert's Symphony No. 9 'Great' Based On The 2018 Half-Speed Remastering

A brilliant conductor, ingenious and controversial, whose artistry was deeply rooted in the tradition of Romantic idealism, Wilhelm Furtwängler's recordings bear witness to an artist capable of revealing fresh insights into even the best-known compositions. His few post-war recordings for Deutsche Grammophon are benchmark interpretations which have assumed cult status in the panoply of legendary recordings on the Yellow Label: Haydn's Symphony No.88, Schubert's 'Great' C Major Symphony, and Schumann's Fourth, alongside Furtwängler's own monumental Second Symphony.

These are collected together in a limited and hand-numbered vinyl edition, mastered to the exacting standards of Emil Berliner Studios. All records have been made from masters of the original tapes as 180g pressings and each comes with its own sleeve modeled on the original record sleeves. As a bonus, the box contains facsimiles of the original recording logs.

These recordings reveal all the passion that Furtwangler was capable of demonstrating, and they also convey a sense of the incomparable legato line that was typical of his conducting. Even almost seventy years after they were made, they have lost none of their fascination.

Unstoppable momentum and expressive intensity
-praise for Schubert's Symphony No. 9 'Great' (The Guardian)
From beginning to end it is an incandescent performance, one which should always be available.
-praise for Schumann's Symphony No. 4 (Gramophone 1978)
Deservedly one of [Furtwängler's] most famous recordings.
-praise for Haydn's Symphony No. 88 (The Penguin Guide)
The man who can write a score as rich as [this] is not to be argued about. He is of the race of great musicians.
-praise for Furtwängler's Symphony No. 2 (Arthur Honegger)
