1987 Baker-Lackerschmid Collaboration on Vinyl LP!

After many joint live performances and two record albums, this is the third document of the musical collaboration of Wolfgang Lackerschmid and the trumpet player Chet Baker.

This very remarkable album was recorded at the end of August 1987 and contains eight original compositions by Lackerschmid, a "must" for all Baker fans and for those who like to listen to good jazz. As in their previous albums, Quintet Sessions 1979 and Ballads for Two, the musical pattern ranges from ballads to Latin rhythms.

Welcome Back finds Baker in exquisite form. The very lyrical compositions blend with Chet's "feeling" and his renowned, unobtrusively soft performance.

While we can still anticipate more beautiful compositions from Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Chet Baker died tragically in Amsterdam on May 13, 1988.

The recorded performances are a wonderful though painful memory of an extraordinary musician who was unique in his own way.
