This special 2-LPs-on-1-CD release is made up of two rare Woody Herman recordings originally produced for and owned by SESAC Recordings, a division of America's second oldest performing rights society SESAC Inc. SESAC's Recording Division operated from th e mid-1940s to early 1960s, providing music to a network of radio broadcasters.

Full of little-known gems by some of the best-known names in jazz, the catalog is now owned by PT Music, and selections such as these classic Woody Herman recordings are available exclusively through Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab.

Released in 1959, The Fourth Herd showcases the Herman group formed in 1954 that was one of the bandleader's strongest.
