Verdi's La Traviata is performed by Chor der Bayerischen Staatsoper and Bayerisches Staatsorchester conducted by Carlos Kleiber. It was recorded May 1976 and June 1977 at Burgerbrau-Keller, Munich.
Puccini's La Boheme is performed by Schoneberger Sanberknaben, teh Chor der Deutschen Oper Berlin, and Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Herbert von Karajan. This was recorded October 1972 at Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin.

This combination of highly advanced technology greatly contributed to capturing the high quality sound of the original master tapes.
