Released in 2003, Thirteenth Step marked A Perfect Circle's highly anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed debut, Mer de Noms. Expanding beyond the band's alternative-metal foundation, the album explores themes of addiction, recovery, and personal transformation through a collection of emotionally resonant songs and atmospheric production. Led by vocalist Maynard James Keenan and guitarist/songwriter Billy Howerdel, the record balances introspective songwriting with dynamic arrangements, creating one of the most distinctive rock albums of the early 2000s.

Driven by standout tracks including "Weak and Powerless," "The Outsider," and "Blue," Thirteenth Step achieved both commercial success and critical recognition, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and earning Platinum certification in the United States.
