Following the departure of Joe Perry from the group in 1979, Aerosmith went on a 2 year hiatus before working on the follow-up album, "Rock In a Hard Place" which was released in August of 1982.
The biggest hit from the album was "Lightning Strikes" which features Brad Whitford on rhythm guitar on the album. Whitford would leave the band during recording of the album in 1981. The album also contains a cover of Arthur Hamilton's "Cry Me A River."
