2024 year marks the 40th anniversary of the first performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express, which opened at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre in 1984. To celebrate, highlights from the original cast recording of Starlight Express are released on a special collector's 1LP Zoetrope.
The release coincides with a brand new production of Starlight Express, opening June 8, 2024 at the purpose built Starlight Auditorium at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. Audiences will be immersed in a world of speed, song and storytelling as an incredible cast of 40 whizz around and above, performing some of musical theatre's most beloved songs, including "AC/DC," "Rolling Stock," "Light at the End of the Tunnel" and the iconic "Starlight Express."
The limited edition Zoetrope features the original cast of Starlight Express, including Stephanie Lawrence, Frances Ruffelle, Jess Shankley, Jeffrey Daniel and Ray Shell, plus a special bonus track from the 1992 re-launch of the show in London.
Each side, masterfully designed by Zoetrope specialist Drew Tetz, will animate with the rotation of the vinyl when exposed to the right light conditions or captured on your phone.
