"An exceptional quartet date from '79, with Pepper having just established what became a regular working relationship with pianist George Cables, who plays with passion and conviction. He hadn't yet hired a bassist and drummer, so for the occasion Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins were used. Pepper was certainly inspired by what they contributed; his alto sax solos are intense and often jubilant." -Ron Wynn.
