The Audio Desk Systeme Vinyl Cleaner Pro Record Cleaner is the new & improved version of the multi-award winning cleaner: Stereophile Product Of The Year, TAS Product Of The Year, Golden Ear & Editors' Choice Award Winner!
The highly acclaimed Audio Desk Vinyl Cleaner Pro is a revolution in record cleaning!
What makes the Audio Desk Systeme Vinyl Cleaner Pro Record Cleaner stand out from its contemporaries is its advanced ultrasonic cleaning cycle, which makes it the first and only of its kind. It doesn't stop there, though. The Vinyl Cleaner Pro also boasts a more traditional cleaning technique through bi-directional rotating microfiber cleaning drums. The ultrasonic cleaning coupled with the cleaning drums results in the most effective vinyl cleaner on the market.
This form of cleaning is quieter, more convenient, and extremely gentle on LP surfaces. Did we mention the process is fully automatic? Insert your LP vertically in the opening on top of the cleaner, push the red activation button, and in 5 minutes your LP will be comprehensively cleaned and dried. Yellow LED lights convey that the record is being cleaned while green LED lights signal that cleaning has completed. Once finished, the LP can be removed. It doesn't get any easier than this. You'll be able to appreciate LPs on new levels as previously unheard details and air becomes revealed. Most surface noise gets eliminated as well. The sound will be closer to the music and your vinyl will sparkle as never before!
During the cleaning process, counter-rotating microfiber cleaning barrels and ultrasonic waves softly remove even the finest contaminants from the grooves of the LP. While operating, the Vinyl Cleaner Pro fully filters the cleaning solution to avoid recontamination of the LP. Finally, two high performance fans guarantee effective yet quiet drying of your LP.
What makes ultrasonic cleaning so special? For starters, ultrasonic means sound generated above the human audible level. A physical effect called "cavitation" results from the generation of ultrasonic frequencies in a liquid. In this cavitation process, ultrasonic "compression waves" are created by an ultrasonic transducer. When the amplitude of this soundwave increases to a level where the surface tension of the liquid is broken, the fluid will tear apart leaving behind millions of microscopic vacuum bubbles. These vacuum bubbles then rapidly compress or implode creating millions of tiny liquid jets small enough to clean inside the smallest grooves of an LP. This process, also called "microagitation," displaces any contaminants on the surface of the LP.
Careful cleaning of records is monumental in preserving their value. Even when great care is taken, over time it becomes inevitable that they become dirty. Rainer Glass from Audio Desk Systeme has truly created a landmark record cleaner that follows its own path. You'll be able to cherish this cleaner for years to come.
"Cavitation does the absolute BEST job of removing dirt from record grooves... No doubt this is expensive but it does save time: you drop in the record, push a button and in five minutes or so it's done while you do other things. Other type machines require you to spend more time and exert more manual labor. You can't walk away. You cannot make a better investment in your records and your phono cartridge than cleaning your records! Aside from the obvious sonic improvement, dirt in the grooves acts like "sandpaper" increasing friction and heat that produces record and stylus wear. Clean records are essential to maximize record life, cartridge life and of course sound quality... Cavitation is the best way to clean a record period." - Michael Fremer, www.analogplanet.com
"The Audio Desk Systeme was the most effective, easy-to-use record-cleaning machine I've ever tried. I cleaned records that I'd already vacuum-cleaned but were still noisy, and the noise went away. Two examples: my original UK pressing of the Beatles' Let It Be and my most treasured classical album, an original pressing of Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony's recording of Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra (RCA Living Stereo LSC-1806). The latter looked clean when I bought it but was hopelessly noisy. Repeated cleanings over the decades since, using more sophisticated fluids and machines, have made it quieterbut finally, after treatment with the Audio Desk, it's just about completely silent... I've never had so much fun cleaning LPs. I bought the review sample." - Michael Fremer, www.stereophile.com
"The Audio Desk is fully automatic and, unlike any other record-cleaning machines I know of, it uses ultrasound and a process called cavitation (ie, the forming of bubbles) to clean records, much as an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner does for jewels. If you've ever seen a tarnished piece of ornate silverwork go into such a machine and come out gleaming, even in its tiniest nooks and crannies, you know how well it works."
"Slip an LP into the Audio Desk's slot, which is lined with soft rubber lips; on the left side, the slot widens into a vat. Push the Start button and the record begins to slowly rotate (it sometimes required a nudge). Fluid stored in a chamber below begins to fill the vat as four bidirectional microfiber drums adjust their proximity to the disc, then begin to rotate themselves, to spread cleaning fluid on the record."
"Meanwhile, the ultrasonic condenser fires up, producing soundwaves whose amplitude is high enough to break the liquid's surface tension, causing it to tear apart and leave behind millions of microscopic vacuum bubbles that compress or implode, creating tiny liquid jets small enough to clean inside even the narrowest LP groove (think of the jewelry cleaner)."
"This micro-agitation process washes any contaminants on the record surface into the cleaning fluid. The fluid then drains off through a filter, and the rotation of the LP slows almost to a stop as two powerful fans completely dry the disc. Remove the disc by carefully lifting it vertically, to keep it from rubbing against the rollers, or you'll end up with wet spots. (That happened only a few times.) Your LP is clean and dry and ready to play. The entire process, monitored by front-panel LEDs, takes six minutes." - Michael Fremer, www.stereophile.com
"Even if you've cleaned your disc with some of the competing products on the market, you'll find that after the Audio Desk does its stuff you'll hear more deeply into the grooves. With a combination of brushes, rollers, and an exclusive ultrasonic cleaning technology, it cleans like no other LP scrubber. To top it off, the device cleans both sides at once." - Harry Pearson, The Absolute Sound, March 2013, Issue 231
"I was beyond shocked when I performed a before-and-after test on the first LP I tried... The Audio Desk didn't just make the surfaces quieter as expected, but rendered a wholesale increase in clarity, the apparent separation of instrumental images in space, vividness, and dimensionality... The improvement was on the level of a component upgrade... I suspect that if you hear the Audio Desk's effects, you'll also find a way to own one." - Robert Harley, The Absolute Sound, January 2014, Issue 239
The VINYL CLEANER PRO - (not) a matter of philosophy:
One can speak about two primary philosophies, two different approaches, that are used in disc cleaning (if you disregard the generally ineffective cleaning by hand): Surface Suction and Point Suction. Without wanting to go into the pros and cons of these two procedures, both have one common denominator - Suction: You may have heard the credo "the disc needs to undergo suction cleaning in order to become really clean", at various high-end trade fairs and in diverse analogue forums. This statement is underlined by the product offerings on the market: there appears little alternative to suction cleaning. In the case of disc cleaning the one thing all can agree on: when the dirt loosening process is not carried out effectively, then suction cleaning (or any other clever procedure) simply won't bring good results.
The VINYL CLEANER PRO - a clean machine:
In order to loosen dirt, residues, and other contaminants from the disc surface, the standard approach employs brushes. The cleaning results are at least as various and diverse as the brush materials that are used. From the shape of the brush, to the pressure and angle applied, to the speed of turning, numerous criteria, which have to work optimally together, play an important role in order to form the basis for efficient disc cleaning. Unfortunately the worst case scenario occurs too often: instead of removing the dirt it is forced even deeper into the grooves, or spread across the entire disc surface, or worst of all, the analogue killer, the disc surface is damaged.
The VINYL CLEANER PRO - a dust remover:
The Vinyl Cleaner Pro doesn't rely on brushes to remove dust and other contaminants. Counter-rotating microfibre wet cleaning barrels, and the ultrasonic process, remove dirt gently yet thoroughly; even the finest particles sitting deep in the grooves of the disc. The cleaning fluid is recirculated and filtered during the cleaning process - in this way the dirt removed, or shaken, from the disc can't find it's way directly or indirectly back onto the disc surface. Only then is the foundation for the important final step created: the drying process!
The VINYL CLEANER PRO - drying with no ifs, ands, or buts:
Both surface and point suction rely on the vacuum created. The diminishing of the vacuum due to the aging of the apparatus, and the static charging of the disc caused by the effects of rubbing, are two main drawbacks of suction. Surface suction is generally characterized by the limited efficiency of dirt removal and loud vacuum cleaner-like noise. Point suction is typified by the slow speed of cleaning and complicated handling. Convenience is generally sacrificed in either case - both concepts in the main only allow one side of the disc to be cleaned at a time. Once again the Vinyl Cleaner Pro rips up the rule book! Both sides of the disc are cleaned and subsequently dried simultaneously. The gentle fan drying process is driven by two high-performance motors - with significantly lower noise, and with no creation of static!
The VINYL CLEANER PRO - maximum convenience:
The Vinyl Cleaner Pro can justifiably claim to be the most user-friendly disc cleaner: operation, handling and care are all geared towards absolute simplicity and maximum convenience. Before first usage the Vinyl Cleaner Pro simply needs to be placed on a level surface, distilled water and cleaning fluid added, the wet filter be fitted and the apparatus plugged in - off you go!
The VINYL CLEANER PRO - usage:
Switch on the Vinyl Cleaner Pro, introduce a disc from above, press the start button - the cleaning and drying procedure run fully automatically, and you can get on with other jobs with no worries. The beginning and the end of the cleaning process are signaled both acoustically and by means of the LED display. Depending on the dirtiness of the particular disc the length of the main cleaning process can be individually set - simply at the touch of a button.
The VINYL CLEANER PRO - easy to care for:
To begin with a quick word regarding cleaning fluid: In order to treat the vinyl as gently as possible, and create the best possible sound, the cleaning fluid, specifically developed for the Vinyl Cleaner Pro, avoids the use of alcohol, instead relying on a mild biodegradable mixture with excellent cleaning properties and outstanding antistatic characteristics. Just one container of cleaning fluid concentrate - 2 are included in the delivery package - is enough to clean approximately 100-200 discs (depending on the level of disc contamination). The wet filter is easy to clean: saturate with distilled water and ring out. The inspection interval for the wet filter is identical to the replacement of the cleaning fluid. The 4 microfibre-cleaning barrels are extremely robust and therefore only need to be replaced after approximately 500 completed cleaning operations.
