For this 1965 recording, which was released in 1966, organist Big John Patton is joined by Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, guitarist Grant Green, and drummer Otis Finch.
Big John Patton was one of the most in-demand hard bop and soul jazz organists during the golden era of Hammond B-3 organs between 1963 and 1970. He was a major figure in the development of the funk and blues-rooted jazz style known as soul jazz.
During the Blue Note 75th Anniversary celebration the label released 100 essential Blue Note LPs and asked New York times readers what titles they'd like to see make the list. This album was among five titles hand-selected for 2016 reissue by Blue Note President, Don Was, based on New York Times reader recommendations.
