Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 9/500!
"Blood On The Tracks" (No.1 US, No.4 UK '75) is quite simply one of Bob Dylan's greatest releases and stacks right up there with "Highway 61 Revisited" and "Blonde On Blonde" for Dylan aficionados. "Blood On The Tracks" documents Dylan's own disintegrating relationships with a high degree of personal honesty which is almost painful to listen to at times. The whole album almost recalls the misery of Leonard Cohen at his prime, especially on tracks like the harrowing "If You See Her Say Hello" - surely one of the saddest songs in rock music history. However, having said all that, the album has a strong sense of survivability and is even quite optimistic in terms of Dylan eventually getting over his traumas and moving on in life. In short, this is easily one of Dylan's most personal albums and it's popularity since it's release has underscored it's appeal ever since. Few albums can match it's brooding introspective mood. Brilliant.
