Camille Thomas's 2026 album, Philip Glass: For Cello, was born out of a personal invitation from the composer himself. Marking his 90th birthday, this unique, artist-led project brings together a selection of Philip Glass's most significant works alongside his original compositions for the cello, featuring new arrangements that shed fresh light on his music.
Recorded with the Brussels Philharmonic under the direction of Oscar Jockel, the album ranges from the rarely performed First Cello Concerto to a newly reimagined version of Naqoyqatsi—the original film score that inspired the Second Cello Concerto—alongside newly arranged Etudes and iconic film music, including The Hours, culminating in a unique new arrangement of "Truman Sleeps" (The Truman Show). Together, these works reveal the depth, lyricism, and inner pulse at the heart of Glass's musical language, while offering a timely reflection on themes that remain strikingly relevant today.
