The Soundsmith Zephyr MkII Moving Iron Cartridge is built using a selected "low mass CONTACT LINE diamond" stylus design, mounted on a Boron cantilever - capable of truly remarkable separation, sound stage and imaging!

The Soundsmith Zephyr MkII Moving Iron Cartridge model employs "Trickle Down" Technology from a unique Energy Distribution System within the cartridge body - the same system as in the Soundsmith top-of-the-line Sussurro Cartridge.

The Zephyr MkII features a composite body and unique energy distribution system which contributes to its ability to produce high-end performance from a moderately priced cartridge. Using technology found in Soundsmith’s higher cost cartridges, the Soundsmith Zephyr MkII Moving Iron Cartridge will provide a level of clarity and beauty from your vinyl that will make you take out your record collection and listen to it all over again.

The Soundsmith Zephyr MkII Moving Iron Cartridge is a high output, low compliance design; one model in a great cartridge lineup from Soundsmith that overturns the myth that "moving coil" cartridges are the only path towards perfection. After all, what is the "advantage" of the moving coil type of cartridge? Low moving mass, right? The Zephyr MkII has less. Much less. And if you understand moving mass, less IS more. The 40 year evolution of Soundsmith's moving iron cartridges affords lower EFFECTIVE moving mass than most other types of cartridges. That's good, because if you can't stay in contact with the groove walls, you can't hear what's on the record.

The Zephyr MkII is a HIGH OUTPUT "Moving Iron design" - it can be used with a standard Moving Magnet preamp. No transformers. No finicky multi-stage ultra high gain preamp required. Less is more here, too. The Soundsmith Zephyr MkII Moving Iron Cartridge Low Compliance Cartridge is perfect for tone arms with an effective mass of 8g - 30g!

Once you've heard your Soundsmith Zephyr MkII Moving Iron Cartridge, you'll never go back!
