Chris Stapleton took center stage at the CMA Awards show on November 4, 2015 scooping up Awards for "New Artist Of the Year", "Album Of the Year", and "Male Vocalist Of the Year". He and Justin Timberlake stole the show with their performance of "Tennessee Whiskey".
Stapleton was already an established songwriter, with six number one songs, before he recorded his debut album, "Traveller", released in May of 2015. He has written "Never Wanted Nothing More" for Kenny Chesney, 'Love's Gonna Make It Alright" for George Strait, and "Come Back Song" for Darius Rucker. Many of his songs have appeared on albums by Adele, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley.
Recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A (with additional production at The Castle and Blackbird Studio), Traveller was produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and recorded by Vance Powell (Jack White). In addition to renditions of Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove's "Tennessee Whiskey" and Don Sampson's "Was It 26", the album features twelve original songs, including the fan-favorite "Sometimes I Cry".
