Debut Solo Album By Pretenders' Lead Singer!
Stockholm is the debut album by The Pretenders lead singer, Chrissie Hynde. The album was recorded at Ingrid Studios in Stockholm with co-writer, guitarist and producer Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John. The album, 11 tracks in total, includes the first single "Dark Sunglasses," released on April 21. Stockholm is a suitably impressive addition to the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer's staggering legacy and a fresh debut.
Summing up her aims with the album, Chrissie said; "I wanted to make a power pop album you could dance to - Abba meets John Lennon."
Speaking about the new album, Chrissie adds, "I think life is serious, and you should take it seriously, but in rock n roll either have a laugh or don't come to the party... so much of rock 'n' roll has become what I would call Glory Rock, with family values. It's the irreverance in rock that was always the turn on."
"...11 songs of nonchalant defiance, hard-edged resignation and occasionally crumpled vulnerability that show off her enduring appeal." -Mojo
"This new chapter could prove to be one of the most compelling of her storied career." -The Independent
"Energetic and consistently surprising." -The Observer
