Reference Recordings was recently honored to be chosen to record and produce the premiere recording of this major new work celebrated American composer Richard Danielpour, which is dedicated to the lives lost on September 11th. It was commissioned and premiered by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, with soloists and the 150-voice Pacific Chorale.

Richard Danielpour is one of the most gifted and sought after composers of his generation. His is music of large and romantic gestures, brilliantly orchestrated and rhythmically vibrant. He has written works for Yo-Yo Ma and the New York Philharmonic, Gary Graffman and the National Symphony, Jessye Norman, Emananuel Ax, Dawn Upshaw, Frederica von Stade and many more. He is currently at work on a new piece for the Philadelphia Orchestra and his first opera.

Musicians: The Pacific Symphony Orchestra conducted by Carl St. Clair; Stephanie Blythe, mezzo-soprano; Hugh Smith, tenor; Mark Oswald, baritone, The Pacific Chorale directed by John Alexander.
