Season 1 Score to the Netflix Series on 2LP!
Composed by Danny Elfman & Chris Bacon!
Pressed on Purple Goth with Smoky Shadow Vinyl!
Wednesday — the Netflix series starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more — is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy.
The Wednesday score is composed by 4x Oscar nominee, 2x Emmy winner Danny Elfman (Milk, Big Fish, Men in Black, Good Will Hunting, Live from Lincoln Center, Desperate Housewives, The Simpsons) and 3x Emmy nom Chris Bacon (The Tick, Bates Motel, Smash, Gnomeo & Juliet, Sherlock Gnomes, Immanence).
Danny Elfman was a founder of the Grammy Award nominated band Oingo Bongo with his brother, filmmaker Richard Elfman (Modern Vampires, Bloody Bridget, Forbidden Zone). After forming a friendship with young director Tim Burton, who was then a fan of Oingo Boingo, Danny went on to score the soundtrack of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985), his first orchestral film score. The Elfman-Burton partnership continued (most notably through the hugely-successful Batman flicks) and opened doors of opportunity for Danny, who has been referred to as "Hollywood's hottest film composer." Elfman also composed music for Burton's Beetlejuice, Batman and Batman Returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks!, Big Fish (for which Elfman earned one of his four career Oscar nods) and Alice in Wonderland, among others.
Chris Bacon is a protege of the great James Newton Howard, and won an HMMA for Gnomeo & Juliet, which he shared with James and Bernie Taupin (Elton John). He previously worked with Elfman on When We Rise, Men in Black: International, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Created and co-written by Alfred Gough and co-written by Miles Millar, with the first four episodes directed by Tim Burton and all eight season 1 episodes executive produced by Burton, Wednesday was the #1 show worldwide on Netflix and the third most popular show on Netflix ever, after Stranger Things and Squid Game. Snap snap.
Danny Elfman's musical score was to die for, and it was incorporated into Wednesday's joyfully bleak coming-of-age story so brilliantly.
No one is snapping at the end of any of this music, which was written by legendary composer Danny Elfman—but it is creepy and kooky in a way the original show was not. Check it out.
Tim Burton and Danny Elfman's Latest Collaboration Is Worthy of Two Snaps
Burton's frequent collaborator Danny Elfman composes the music for the show, ensuring it is in keeping with his weird and wonderfully dark tone.
