Dinah Washington (August 29, 1924 - December 14, 1963) was an American singer and pianist, who has been cited as "the most popular black female recording artist of the '50s". Primarily a jazz vocalist, she performed and recorded in a wide variety of styles including blues, R&B, and traditional pop music. This double LP has the cream of Dinah Washington's R&B hits. All 35 of her R&B hits from 1947-1961 are here plus the bonus track "Mad About The Boy", a popular song with words and music by actor and playwright Sir Noël Coward. The song gained new popularity in 1992 when Dinah Washington's rendition was used in the Levi's television advertisement "Swimmer", directed by Tarsem Singh.
