Dire Straits' biggest-selling album - in fact, one of the biggest-selling albums worldwide of all time - Brothers In Arms helped musically define a decade. This superb 1985 album spent a grand total of 203 weeks in the UK charts and a respectable 55 weeks in the US charts (where it sold 7 million copies alone). Brothers In Arms was pretty much the success story of the '80s and was primarily fueled by a slate of huge hit singles like the classic "Money For Nothing", "Walk Of Life", and "So Far Away".

"Money For Nothing", the song that helped immortalize the phrase "I want my MTV", hit #1 and won the Grammy® for Best Rock Performance. Today, Brothers In Arms remains a rock essential and is resisued on 180g double LP.

Mark Knopfler started writing 'Money for Nothing' when he overheard a New York appliance salesman's anti-rock-star, anti-MTV rant. The song, of course, became a huge MTV hit, and this album shows off Knopfler's incisive songwriting and lush guitar riffs on 'Walk of Life' and 'So Far Away'.
