Both titles on this CD were culled from that treasure chest of 'little gems,' SESAC Recordings, a division of America's second-oldest performing rights society.

The Music of Elliott Lawrence is a superb compilation of both big band and septet recordings made between 1956-59. It features a very interesting cast of players, among them, Zoot Sims, Tyree Glenn, Milt Hinton and Buddy Jones. Lawrence had carte blanche in terms of expressing his dynamic musical ideas, resulting in a free-spirited, unbuttoned-down mood interpreted with both vigor and polish. A must for collectors!
