Take any component to the next level of sonic bliss with this beautiful custom made vibration isolation platform! Improves performance of CD, SACD & DVD players, amplifiers, pre-amplifiers, turntables and phonostages!
"Putting the Gingko Audio Cloud 10 platform under the Scout and Scoutmaster was a bigger upgrade than going from an $800.00 cartridge to a $2500.00 cartridge. The Cloud 10 is a major sonic upgrade providing lower noise, greater space, and a much more realistic presentation and is highly recommended." - Harry Weisfeld of VPI
The NEW Gingko Audio Cloud 10 Vibration Control Platform is a simple yet effective vibration isolation platform! Its elegant design belies its functional effectiveness. It works well because of the correct choice of material coupled with a flexible design that allows you to experiment with a wide variety of applications.
How vibration negatively affects good sound is a well-known and accepted scientific fact on which we need not elaborate. There are many available products aiming at reducing vibration affecting audio equipment. All of them seek to isolate the equipment from unwanted vibration in the environment, transferred through the surface on which the equipment sits, be it the wooden floor or the metal rack. At the same time, vibration caused by the equipment itself such as the CD transport mechanism or the turntable platter needs to be dissipated so as not to affect the electronic components within the chassis.
We find that acrylic is an excellent material for vibration control. It is not an accident that many audio products use acrylic in their designs, whether an acrylic turntable platter or an acrylic chassis for CD players or transports. One property of acrylic is that vibration does not propagate through its complex, dense and irregular molecular structure as it does in crystalline structures such as glass. In fact, Acrylic does an excellent job in dissipating any vibrating energy it receives.
The Cloud 10 uses rubber balls to further isolate vibration from the environment from the equipment. These balls were chosen for specifically for this application to yield to most neutral and detailed sound possible!
The rubber balls serve two critical functions:
They provide three degrees of freedom in the movement of the top platform relative to the bottom base. The top platform sitting on top of the rubber balls can freely move up and down, front to back, and side to side, without causing undulating, repeating motion that continues after the original vibration. They work as very effective shock absorbers.
The rubber balls are also used to balance the uneven load of some equipment such as amplifiers or turntables. By placing the rubber balls in different positions in the base, you can level the equipment to even the load.
18" W x 14" D x 2.5" H
Includes: 4 Rubber Balls (Green)
Suggested Operation Procedure:
1. Place the bottom base on a firm foundation such as the floor or a sturdy equipment rack.
2. Use a bubble leveler (found at any hardware store) to ensure the bottom base is level.
3. Place the four rubber balls in the desired position (see picture above). The four balls were chosen for specifically for this application to yield to most neutral and detailed sound possible.
4. Place the top platform on top of the balls. Use your fingers to feel all around the edges to ensure that the top platform sits squarely on top of the bottom base to allow it to move freely without touching the bottom base.
5. Place the equipment unit on top of the top platform and use the leveler to determine if it needs further leveling.
